Recap 3
There are many benefits to breastfeeding. Perhaps this is why breastfeeding rates are skyrocketing in the United States. Breastfeeding decreases the risk of ovarian cancer and diabetes in the
mother. It also helps the mother to lose
weight faster because breastfeeding helps the uterus return to its regular shape. This
allows the mother to get her stomach back into shape as well. Breastfeeding also helps decrease the risk of obesity in babies later on in
life because breastfed babies have to work in order to extract the milk from
the breast. This teaches the baby how to
take pauses and stop eating once they are full. With breastfeeding there is no preparing, cleaning, or buying of anything. It saves parents money because they don’t have
to buy formula and they have fewer doctor bills as a result of healthier babies. It also promotes bonding between the mother and the child.

Breastfeeding rates in the
U.S are on the rise. According to a study done by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the rate of breastfeeding moms in
the U.S. has risen to 77%. More mothers
are beginning to breastfeed for the correct recommended amount of time, and
they are now aware of all the benefits that come along with breastfeeding. Some of the benefits include: protection
against diseases for the mom and the baby, a way to bond with the baby, a way
for the baby to receive proper nutrients and antibodies, and it is also a way
to save money on baby formula.

Recap 2
Heroin is an opioid pain killer.
While weed and cocaine are mentally addictive, heroin is physically
addictive and takes a while to get over. It is physically hard to stop using heroin. Because people are physically addicted, their
bodies go through withdrawals. These are
periods of shaking, sweating profusely, seizures, diarrhea, upset stomachs,
headaches, and vomiting. A heroin addict’s body craves and desires the drug. As they become dependent on the drug, the body will begin to shut down without it. Also, not only is heroin extremely addictive, it is cheap and easy to get. In 2013, two people died of an overdose every day, and they were sadly all under the age of 35. Unfortunately, the problem is only getting worse.

There has been a major heroin epidemic that has been going
on in Westchester County in the state of New York. Heroin has become one of the cheapest drugs
to get a hold of. People ranging from
high school students to young adults are being caught in possession of heroin
or even worse, dead. Heroin is extremely
addictive and it is very dangerous.
Often times heroin destroys peoples’ health, as well as their personal
lives. For example, users begin to lose
loved ones, they lose their jobs, they spend all their money on their addiction
and they even begin to steal from others.
Their death brings deep sadness and grief, as well as awareness of a
much bigger issue within the community.

Recap
Lake George is always a good time, especially in the summer. The sun is out, the water is glistening, and everyone has a smile on their face. While at Lake George, my nephew, Zander went to the beach for the first time. He was having a grand time as he crawled all over, played with the sand, and went in the water. My nephew has a habit of putting everything he can get his hands on into his mouth. I'm sure we can all assume he almost ate sand if his mom didn't catch him in time. Later on that night, he had some real food, including ice cream! My nephew is six months old going onto seven months, so this was his first time trying ice cream. Turns out he loves vanilla ice cream, the beach, but not sleep. He must have been so excited that he did not sleep that night. Yet, Zander had a great time in Lake George!
